Does planet Earth have a hollow interior and a habitable centre? Part 3 - 20th century stories and theories.

Throughout the 20th century there were still many modern stories with a variety of ideas and theories of a hollow earth and a habitable centre.

This even interested Adolph Hitler and his Nazi regime at one stage; they sent an expeditionary force in what was an unsuccessful attempt to spy on the British fleet with concealed cameras pointing upwards.

Since Earth has had 5.5 billion years to cool down it may possibly be hollow and no longer hot. Gravity may have pulled it outwards with the centripetal force of the Earth's rotation. Is it a vacuum, void of air or does it have its own atmosphere of gas? What gas, you may ask? It is feasible that some other form of life could possibly exist here. Questions, questions, and no answers?

If the Earth's rotation and the ensuing energy was harvested as it spiralled from holes at the equator you may be able to launch stuff into space, it was suggested. Yeah right!

Perhaps there are still many goblins, trolls and demons just waiting to spring out, grab and take young humans deep into the bowels of the Earth.

If, however, all you want is a bit of harmless fun, go to Google and just type in: Does Earth have a hollow centre and see what hits you in the eyeballs?

Back into a more serious vein of thought: Why does the US Government appear so paranoid about deep caves, caverns, and deep holes on public land? Apparently the American public finds it difficult at times or even impossible to find the location and maps of many of these caves, caverns, and deep holes. Very strange indeed!

Perhaps there is a belief in the Pentagon that continental America is in danger of invasion of terrorists, or something more insidious?

Does planet Earth have a hollow interior and a habitable centre? Part 2 - More stories.

In Part 2 we mention the ideas and theories in ancient times of subterranean realms which became intertwined with the concept of places, such as the Greek Hades; the Nordic Svartelfheim;the Jewish Sheol; and the Christian Hell.

There was obviously general belief amongst ancient humans and civilizations of something beneath their own worlds - something below! More research will undoubtably discover similar beliefs in ancient Asian civilizations as well?

In 1692 Edmund Halley also put forth a theory of a hollow Earth concept - hollow shells about 500 miles thick, two inner concentric shells, an innermost core about the diameter of Venus, Mars and Mercury together.Atmosphere seperated the shells and each had its own magnetic poles. Spheres rotated at seperate speeds, luminous atmosphere and escaping gas caused Aurora Borealis.

Others with similar theories were: Leonhard Euler, John Cleves Symnes Jr, Jeremiah Reynolds and others. Similar minds and similar lines as they say?

Part 3, deals with some 20th century stories and theories.

Does planet Earth have a hollow interior and a habitable centre? Part 1 - Old stories.

Lets go on a different tangent this week, away from political controversy and thin skinned blogsters! Into the realms of fancy and legend.

There is a theory that planet Earth has a hollow interior and a habitable centre.Early fiction suggested travel to the centre of the Earth?

Jules Verne, who usually didn't stray too far from scientific plausability, used the hollow Earth theory in his 1864 novel, " Journey to the Centre of the Earth".

Edgar Allan Poe, wrote " The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym", " MS found in a bottle", and "Hans Pfaal" all connected with the subject.

Willis Emerson, wrote his science fiction novel, "The Smokey God", in 1908. The novel reportedly claims to recount the true adventures of Olaf Jansen who allegedly travelled into the interior, found an advanced civilization and returned home. Some people apparently considered the novel as non-fiction!

Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote for entertainment value only. His," Pellucidar", include a visit from his most popular character, Tarzan; perhaps a swim in the underworld river,Styx? Pellucidar reportedly corresponded geographically with the outer surfaces of Earth, with corresponding inner surfaces of land. There were primitive humans and an exciting mix of large and dangerous extinct animals abounding, mahars with psychic powers, and a central minature sun that never set.

Russian authors, Boris and Arkady Strugatsky wrote in," Inhabited Island",about an Earthling space traveller who lands on the planet Sarakah whose population believes they live in a hollow Earth.

Russian geologist, Vladimir Obruchev used a concept of a hollow Earth in his popular novel, "Plutonia".

This is just a small sample of the more popular novels and stories featuring the hollow Earth concept. There are also a number cartoons, comic series and games that also feature the inner Earth. Perhaps you may have read or viewed one or two?

Ther are also the stories from ancient civilizations and other theories in Part 2 tomorrow.

The spirit of the old west returns - roping in the modern day cattle rustlers There's big money in beef these days!

The spirit of the old west returns - roping in the modern day cattle rustlers!

As a truck races down a rural dirt track road with its headlights piercing the predawn darkness like some phantom - a waiting deputy anticipates trouble and tenses his body.

The truck, hauling a large animal trailer, matches the description of one reported as stolen. It stops another 25 km down the track, on the ramp of Oklahoma's Cimarron Turnpike highway, and then suddenly the driver leaped out of the cab and round to the back of the trailer, whooping and hollering - with the deputy in hot pursuit!

The deputy yelled," Stop!Sheriffs department.Get on the ground," drawing his .45 calibre pistol. But suddenly a dozen cows and a calf came charging out!

It was later described by authorities as a feeble and belated attempt to get rid of the evidence.

Cattle rustling is a growing menace in rural America.

Millions of dollars of stolen cattle have been recovered in the past 2 yrs in Oklahoma and Texas; in Missouri more than a US$1 million of rash thefts occurred since 2004.

While a rope around the neck was the expected penalty for rustling a hundred years ago - today its a slap on the wrist, or prison for repeat offending.

It has been suggested that rustling is on the rise because of a 25% increase in beef prices, or perhaps just theft by common crooks out for a fast buck!

Cattle thieves are able to exploit a situation of absentee owners, busy auction barns, a method of business that relies often on the old fashioned handshake than modern paperwork and technology.

The law enforcers follow the clues: footprints, tyre marks, paint chips on a tree - even animal DNA.

While modern technology helps the law enforcers - the 21st century rustler now uses late model trucks and a good interstate roading network - a 100 yrs ago it was done on horseback.

Cattle stolen from Oklahoma ends up in Kansas, Missouri and and Colorado.A Texas organisation has tracked down rustlers in that state with 5200 stolen cattle last year, and 2400 in 2004.

What the lawmen has to do is to be patient, and eventually, like the Canadian Mounties, they will get their man; thats all they can do! There's big money in beef!

Question: Was Chinese dissident Jiang Ljun convicted of subversion with the help of Yahoo in providing the contents of Jiang's email account?
Answer: Apparently so!

Is this a wider warning that Big Brother is really alive and kicking, and that the World Wide Web is part of his domain? You betcha. Be warned!

This little scrap of information proves that nobody's private information is secure on the internet; if your government wants to discover for itself, it can with the help of Yahoo and other internet servers!

You have been warned! I don't want to read here in a few months complaints about Yahoo or some other server being in league wih some government or another! As an internet user you have to be aware of the possibilities of internet servers co-operating with some questionable regimes around the globe. Its already happened!

Stabbed her husband 37 times, skinned him and fed his buttocks to his children. Are they cannibals?

Are you a squeamish reader? You may be in for a literal shock of your life!I was actually quite numbed reading the news item, and even more numbed writing this post.

Once upon a time in Australia. It all happened in Aberdeen in the Hunter Valley in 2001. Now read on:

An Australian abattoir worker, Katherine Knight, stabbed her de facto husband thirty seven times, skinned him and baked his buttocks with vegetables as a meal for his unaware children.

The New South Wales Court of Criminal Appeal was informed about the monsterous killing of 44 yr old John Price and told that this crime did not fit in the worst category of murder and also that the life sentence with no release given to Knight was too harsh. She appealed the 2001 sentence!

Police found the bloody headless body of John Price. Bloodstains showed that he had tried to escape but was dragged back inside the house.

His skin was hanging on a hook in the lounge, his head was cooking in a sickening stew on the stove, and slices of his buttocks served as gruesome steaks for his children - they could be cannibals!

Knight's appeal lawyer said as ghastly as the mutilation was, it did not elevate Price's killing into the worst class of murders, deserving life sentences with no release. Really? There must have been some terrible murders in Australia if this particular one did not rank away up there with the worst?

What do you all think of that? I am still numbed after finishing this post! What about you dear reader?

New Zealand experiencing a " P " or methamphetamine epidemic, causing a budget blowout!

The South Pacific nation of New Zealand is experiencing a "P" or pure methamphetamine epidemic, causing a blowout in the country's public health budgets and affecting serious crime figures and some of the worst murders in years.

While the NZ Police Force has liaised and cooperated with Hawaiian Police for a number of years now, the situation in mainland USA is unknown to us, apart from the Hollywood image.

P lab explosions are causing many problems for police and public health authorities with acute burns having to be treated at hospital emergency departments with the ensuring surgeries delaying other urgent surgeries and lengthening already long waiing list at public hospitals.

These particular burns can actually look like explosive- type burns. Victims have flash burns to faces, hands and cheeks.Making pure methamphetamine involves strong acids and flammable chemicals which are heated to temperatures of up to 130 degrees centigrade.

A 70% burn takes up to 5 mths of treatment or around NZ$700,000. Many victims often come in days later with complications; with initial treatment costs of up to NZ$275,000.These costs are putting demands on hospital budgets and delaying other urgent treatment.

A brief summary of the effects of "P" or pure methamphetamine on the brain: It is highly addictive and causes the brain to release dopamine, a natural chemical that makes you feel good and is vital to normal brain functioning. After a while the brain forces neurons which affectively destroy the resultant dopamine as well as the brain's ability to produce more of the chemical - prolonged use results in an altering of the brains natural chemistry.

Some of the effects on the body include: While pure meth. can be smoked, eaten, snorted or injected its effect is similar to the natural drug adrenaline, but with deadly side effects. Once in the body it affects the central nervous system, speeding up the heart and increasing blood pressure uncontrollably. One hit of the drug lasts for hours, while smoking of the crystal form can last for up to 24 hrs, and some users taking hits every few hours can go for days on end without eating or sleepng.

When the effects of the drug wear off, users experience a severe crash, some sleep for long periods of time, and many suffer a psychosis, a condiion similar to schizophrenia, and become paranoid and delusional, and may strike out aggressively at those around them and themselves -no doubt in such a condition they can become involved in violent crime and murders.

They may also have fevers of up to 180 degrees, which can cause permanent brain damage. They can also build up a tolerance to methamphetamine, and with continued use the crashes get worse and worse.

Methamphetamine is produced in makeshift underground laboratories. The people involved in its manufacture usually don't have any scientific experience and the situaion can be extremely dangerous. Some labs are set up inside houses which become uninhabitable afterwards.

With such a manufacturing system, the strength of "P" on the streets is unknown! It is also being used to lace cannabis sold on the streets as well.

This is the end of my little story on methamphetamine, but there is a bigger and longer story being told daily out there on the streets of any western city or town.Methamphetamine use must become a slice of hell on earth!

A ten year erection - too hard and uncomfortable for American man!

A ten year erection - too hard and uncomfortable for American man!

A former handyman sued for damages and won a lawsuit for more than US$400,000 over a penile implant that gave him a ten year erection!

American, Charles " Chick " Lennon ( no relation to the late John) aged 68 yrs, received the implant which was designed to allow impotent men to position the penis upwards for sex, and to lower it afterwards.

But Mr Lennon could not position his penis downwards; and could no longer hug people or ride a bicycle, and is sadly uncomfortable around his grandchildren. He has had a hard time during the last ten years!
